Would you prefer to be rich or poor?
What would you gain by being rich? By getting all the fortune and fame in the world, what would you gain? Would there be happiness? There would be temporary happiness, not permanent. The happiness would drift away soon enough. And all you could ever find yourself with is ... dissatisfaction. You find yourself lost and lonely. You feel as if you're living in a world of your own with no one beside you.
Sure it'd be great to own a big house, a fancy car, branded clothes, branded handbags, branded shoes ...!!! Nevertheless, would you be happy? Sounds pretty fake to me ...
On being poor, you find yourself being thrifty 24/7. You find yourself not having the things you want to grasp. You won't be able to date. You won't be able to get proper friends. You won't be able to enjoy. You find yourself suffering 24/7.
So which category would you place yourself in?!
I'll say right in the middle where it's just nice. Not too rich and not too poor. Just enough to have a relaxing life. You never have to worry who would want to snatch your riches away. You never have to worry of the finance. You never have to worry of the politics that the rich world may put you in. You never have to worry of people looking down on you. And the list goes on.
Ka Ho Yuet Yuen has made me realized that being rich is not everything. Being normal is just right. Being rich is just too complicating. Sure there are some rich people who tend to be humble but it all depends. Not everyone can be all that.
It's everyone's dream to be rich. But will you be happy when you reach that level?!
There's a saying. "When a person turns rich, that person would turn proud, looking down on all individuals that seem to be of lower status" It's true and I've seen it not only on television dramas but in reality as well. Sad as it is, would you want to risk losing your personality and fall into the trap of the proud? Wouldn't the whole world hate you then? Besides, God despises the proud but blesses the humble.
Think about it. Be wise.

I am happy with how i am now. :PP
ReplyDeleteI think it depends on your family upbringing :D. Tho I live a sort of rich but not the super duper rich life lar, my family sends me out there on my own and make me value things better. Not being spoiled. That way you will not be proud but be humble. And also depends on keeping to your family principles and bible principles.
ReplyDeleteJN: That's awesome, stay happy with how u r now :)
