Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci (April 15, 1452 - May 2, 1519) was an Italian polymath; a painter, a sculptor, an architect, a musician, a scientist, a mathematician, an engineer, an inventor, an anatomist, a geologist, a cartographer, a botanist and a writer.
I stand in awe of his inventions, his achievements, his productions. Inventions like musical instruments, hydraulic pumps, reversible crank mechanisms, finned mortar shells, a steam cannon, a flying machine, a diving suit, and the list goes on.
What has drawn me most to Leonardo's works is the famous Mona Lisa painting. No one was able to figure out who the woman in the painting was, till 500 years later, whereby the woman in the painting was a housewife selected by Leonardo himself to be part of his painting.
I'm amazed as well with how he was able to do things backwards; for example, writing backwards. How is one able to write backwards? I'm enthralled by it all!!! Moreover, his inventions seem to have a hidden secret to make it work. Just by watching the documentary itself has made me realise that Leonardo was truly a genius. He wanted to keep his inventions and his productions unique. He was smart enough to hide the secret ingredients required to make his inventions or productions work from the public, as he did not want them to make money out of his inventions or productions without giving him credit, more like protecting his copyright. It all remains a mystery, only God knows.
