Writing allows me to express my feelings through a paper. It would be a missing piece from a puzzle if writing did not exist. Generally, it makes me happy and I could simply write all day long. I could simply write a book out of it.
Rather than speaking to yourself, save your breath from talking. Wouldn't writing save you from losing your voice? You wouldn't want to be voiceless, would you? It's a matter of choosing your options wisely. Besides, you could easily make money through writing. Take Dan Brown as an example, his writing has given him hefty royalties. Sure, it would take forever to finish writing a book. Nonetheless, it would bring a much more positive outcome once it's done ... rewards. You wouldn't have to go to work for years. The money you earn from writing a book would be sufficient for you to survive for a couple of years.
Back to writing ... I've always been a writer, even as a kid. I remember myself always writing poetries and short stories during my recess periods in school. Somehow, it relieved my boredom to some point. It had me thinking and doing something productive. Writing is my passion and my life. I could never survive without writing.
I don't know about you. You may have a different point of view. This is only my personal opinion. There's no right or wrong, it depends on each individual's interests.
